Zones: The India rail system


The India rail system is now divided into 17 zones. Each zone is headed by a General Manager who is answerable to the railway board for all the zonal activities and affairs.
Zone – Headquarters
Southern – Chennai
Western – Mumbai (Church Gate)
Central – Mumbai (CST)
Northern – New Delhi
Eastern – Kolkata
South-eastern – Kolkata
North-eastern – Gorakhpur
South-central – Secunderabad
North-east Frontier – Maligaon (Guwahati)
East-central – Hajipur
North-western – Jaipur
North-central – Allahabad
East-cost – Bhubaneswar
South-western – Hubli
West-central – Jabalpur
South-east central – Bilaspur
Kolkata Metro – Kolkata
